The Ultimate Car Safety Kit

The Ultimate Car Safety Kit

With all the safety features in today’s cars, it is easy to feel as if we are invincible on the road. However, disaster can strike at any time, and it is always best to be prepared. One way to do this is by having a safety kit in your vehicle. Easily stored in the glove box or trunk, a properly packed safety kit is crucial in an emergency. Read on to discover what key items to put in your kit.

Must Haves for Your Safety Kit:

  • A charged cellphone or a charged battery pack for your phone
  • Food that won’t spoil quickly (ex. energy bars, jerky, etc..)
  • Water in plastic bottles (should be replaced every two years)
  • Gloves and a hat
  • Wool blanket
  • Extra clothing
  • First aid kit (complete with band aids, gauze, anti-septic, safety pins, instant ice packs, gloves)
  • Seatbelt cutter
  • Small shovel, scraper and snowbrush
  • Candle and matches
  • Wind-up flashlight
  • Whistle
  • Road maps
  • Antifreeze and windshield washer fluid
  • Tow rope
  • Jumper cables
  • Fire extinguisher
  • Ice breaker or hammer
  • Batteries

By organizing a kit like this and checking on it every so often to ensure items are not expired and still in proper working condition, you have prepared yourself and your family for any emergency that may happen on the road. As we tell our clients, it is never nice to think of tragedy striking you or your family, but is always best to prepared in case it does.
