McLeish Orlando Lawyers LLP is committed to achieving fair compensation for seriously injured people and their family members through accident benefits and advancing a lawsuit against the negligent party. We understand that choosing a personal injury lawyer is one of the most important decisions an injured person will make, and do not believe it should be made on the basis of being able to afford the best lawyer to represent you and your family. For this reason we work on what’s known as a contingency fee basis.
A contingency fee agreement means that our fees are based on a percentage of your recovery in the lawsuit. The percentage that we charge does not change with the size of the settlement. In the event that we are unsuccessful in a lawsuit, we will not charge you fees or disbursements.
At McLeish Orlando, we limit the number of cases we take on so that we can give each client the time, energy, and resources required to achieve fair compensation. Every case is handled by a specialized team consisting of a senior lawyer, an associate lawyer, an accident benefits coordinator, a law clerk and a legal assistant.
Before agreeing to represent a person or family we will set up an initial meeting to gather important information about your injury, and the details of how the injury happened. At this meeting we will discuss in detail what our fees will be and how they will be calculated based on your individual circumstances.
For Personal Injury cases the maximum fee we charge is between 20% and 30% of the agreed upon settlement or verdict, including costs, plus HST. At the end of the case, our clients will be paid the legal cost to reduce the fee.
For Medical Malpractice cases, the maximum fee we charge is 35% of the agreed upon settlement or verdict, including costs, plus HST. In some Medical Malpractice cases, we will require an upfront retainer to secure expert opinions and to determine if the actions of the medical professionals involved fell below the acceptable standard of care.
