A 23 year-old Mississauga man has been found guilty of criminal charges after a street racing incident left a 48 year-old father dead.
Ravi Badhwar was convicted of criminal negligence causing death by street racing and failing to remain at the scene of a fatal collision. He will be sentenced in December.
The incident occurred on Highway 400, north of Toronto, in June 2007. Two cars travelling at speeds of more than 170 km/hour cut in front of David Virgoe‘s transport truck. Mr. Virgoe swerved off the road to avoid striking other motorists and was killed instantly when he crashed into a ditch.
Witnesses hailed Virgoe as a hero for his decision to crash his rig into the ditch and avoid hitting other drivers.
