Our work in the area of nursing home neglect began because of clients in other areas of our practise who suffered harm in nursing homes and other types of care facilities. For example, a client who had been seriously injured in a car accident was moved from a hospital to an assisted living facility. Staff members dropped him while transferring him from one location to another. Instead of helping him heal from his initial injuries, the care facility further harmed him due to their negligence.
We also represented a young client who sustained a brain injury and developed a seizure disorder due to an auto accident. Nursing home staff members put him into a restraining device that nearly strangled him, setting back the progress he had made previously.
